MailBasket 2 allows you to manage misaddressed messages that arrive to your Exchange 2003 / 2000
server on a domain-by-domain basis. For each domain that your server receives mail for,
you can have MailBasket 2 redirect misaddressed messages to a unique "catch-all" mailbox
for that domain, a system-wide catch-all mailbox, or have the messages deleted.
How MailBasket 2 Works
Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2000 use an enhanced version of the Internet Information Server's SMTP
service to send and receive external email. MailBasket 2 monitors the SMTP service -
when an inbound message arrives it checks each recipient against all email addresses
in Active Directory. If an incoming address isn't found, MailBasket 2 processes it
according to the settings for domain it has been sent to.
How MailBasket 2 is Priced
MailBasket 2 licenses are sold on a per-server basis, regardless of the number of
mailboxes, domain names or SMTP email addresses an organization has. One license
is necessary for each Exchange 2003 or 2000 server that receives Internet email.
Licenses are not needed for "back end" servers that do not receive Internet email.
Hardware & Software Requirements
MailBasket 2 requires Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server with Service Pack 4
or higher or Windows 2003 Server or Enterprise Server and either Exchange 2000 with Service
Pack 3 or higher or Exchange 2003 with Service Pack 2 or higher. Any server that meets the minimum requirements for
Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 will also support MailBasket 2.
