How MailBasket 3 Works

MailBasket 3 is a Hub Transport Agent that monitors incoming SMTP messages. When an inbound message arrives it checks each recipient against all email addresses in Active Directory. If an incoming address isn't found, MailBasket 3 processes it according to the settings for domain it has been sent to.

MailBasket 3 handles multiple recipients in messages smoothly. If a message has a combination of valid and invalid addresses then MailBasket 3 will deliver the message to the valid addresses and send a copy of the message to the "catch-all" mailbox for each domain with an invalid address.

MailBasket 3 consumes no system resources between activations, nor does it interfere with Exchange 2007's processing of internal messages.

How MailBasket 3 is Priced

MailBasket 3 licenses are sold on a per-server basis, regardless of the number of mailboxes, domain names or SMTP email addresses an organization has. One license is necessary for each Exchange 2007 server that receives Internet email. Licenses are not needed for "back end" servers that do not receive email from the outside world.

Hardware & Software Requirements

MailBasket 3 requires Windows Server 2003 64 bit with Service Pack 2 or later or Windows Server 2008 64 bit with Service Pack 1 or higher. Any server that meets the minimum requirements for Exchange 2007 64 bit will also support MailBasket 3.

MailBasket 3 is not certified for nor has it been tested for use in a clustered environment.
